“Precision teaching is a system for precisely defining and continuously measuring dimensional features of behavior and analyzing behavioral data on the Standard Celeration Chart to make timely and effective data-based decisions to accelerate behavioral repertoires.” (Evans, Bulla and Kieta (2021))
In applied behavior analysis (ABA), “behavior” refers to essentially anything that someone says, does or thinks. This means that academics, verbal behavior, social skills, self-care skills and vocational skills are all “behaviors” that can be taught through the application of the science of behavior. With a focus on increasing the fluency of a skill (behavior), Precision Teaching offers an evidence-based approach to analyzing the effectiveness of interventions and instructional approaches for individual learners. This results in the learner getting the maximum benefit from every instructional moment as progress is frequently measured and the instructional approach is adapted accordingly.
Our Precision Teaching programs are designed with each individual in mind. We can develop programs to meet an array of needs. Some examples include:
Provide an evaluation of an intervention and provide approximations on the length of time needed until skill mastery.
Compliment an existing intervention to measure and monitor progress
Recommend interventions for target skill(s) using curated procedures from the literature.
Develop and implement an intervention program for a target skill
Provide training and on-going consultation on implementing interventions and progress monitoring.
Any learner that we serve either through a school-based behavior support consult or insurance funded home program will receive Precision Teaching for applicable target skills that we are contracted for or as outlined in a treatment plan. It is of utmost importance to us that your learner(s) get the most out of every moment of our services.
For stand-alone Precision Teaching programs that target academic skills, we are available for contracting with school districts for individual student consult or individual/group professional development opportunities. We are also available to parents and after-school programs through private pay tutoring options.
**All Precision Teaching stand-alone programs can be considered for remote service delivery.
We are always happy to brainstorm ways that we can assist teams and families, so if we missed a program design that would meet your needs, or to set up a time to discuss our program further, please refer to the contact information below.
